First Baby-related Purchase(s)! (13w)

I’m so tickled. I frequent a website called SlickDeals for sales and bargains on just about anything.

I popped over this afternoon and the top deal was a Baby Bjorn for half price! I know that with my arthritic elbows I’m gonna want to utilize slings and carriers as much as possible, so I’m already on the lookout for deals. My girlfriends over at Fairytales have already been helpful with info on slings and mei teis, but I know that especially for guys, a classic Baby Bjorn is prolly the way to go. Plus, I know that Kelly has already been making good use of hers!

It’s a chocolate brown little number, which makes me happy. Also, it makes me happy that my first purchase wasn’t some silly doll or little outfit that the critter will wear once before outgrowing. Getting a smoking deal on something we’ll use a lot for at least the first year makes my cheap little heart go pitter-pat.

Added 20 minutes later: Oh lord. There’s covers for this thing. I picked up three that were on sale. I’m stepping *away* from the browser now…

  1. Those baby carriers are EXCELLENT!! Good job on finding such a bargain! :) Keep your eyes open for sales on “Boppy” pillows and covers too….those can get pretty pricey. :)

  2. We loved loved our Baby Bjorn. Hans used it a ton with both kids and I used it too. I wasn’t big on slings with either kid (I am in the minority there) and the kids seemed to like being up and looking around in the Bjorn. And half off is great! It is a pricey item. Good score!

  3. We have one too. It helped us at the zoo, since we can’t take the baby stroller on the train. I appreciate the sling when we went to Florida on the airplane – all I had to do was strap the little bugger to my chest and he rode mostly asleep secured to me. It saved us $180 on plane fare (since we just checked in his seat then).

Another thing to shop for prior to baby coming (if you are breast feeding) is a Boppy – a nursing pillow. Michelle said it saved her back since she didn’t have to hold him up with her arms or slouch over. Plus he learned to latch on quickly this way.
